WithinDentistry,therearemanynewdevelopmentsinorthodontics.Examplesincludethree-dimensionalimagingfordiagnostics,treatmentplanningandevaluation,skeletalanchoring,toothdisplacementwithserial3Dplannedandprintedclearalignersandtreatmentofpatientswithcomplexinterdisciplinarydentaland/ormedicalproblems.Treatmentofpatientswithcongenitalanomaliesisdevelopingintoa’super’specialtywithinorthodontics.Inthepositionofprofessor,youembracethedevelopmentsinyourfieldandfocusonyourcoretasksof(academic)patientcare,education/trainingandresearch.

Youwillmaintainandpromoteahigh-qualityeducationalstandardandyouareresponsibleforfurtherdevelopmentofthecurriculumforadvanceddentaleducation,theundergraduatedentalprogram,clinicalpatientcareintheorthodonticclinicandscientificactivitiesinorthodontics.Youwillalsopromotediversityandinclusioninallfaculty,staffandstudents.YouwillserveondepartmentalandRadboudumc-widecommittees.Additionalassignmentsfromthedeanwillbeacceptedandteachingandtrainingtasksofthedepartmentwillbeparticipatedin.Theseincludelectures,seminars,clinicalsupervisionoforthodontictraineeswithintheCentreforOrofacialCareandrelatedactivities.Youareresponsibleforsustainingyourowncontinuouseducationforyourareaofexpertise,bothwithinandoutsideRadboudumc.Youperformpatientcarebydedicatinguptoonedayperweektoclinicalpractice. 

AsprofessorofOrthodonticsandDentofacialOrthopedics,youfacilitatetheresearchandscientificactivitiesofthedepartmentandyoudevelopandmaintainaresearchportfolioinlinewiththestrategyoftheRadboudumcResearchInstitute.Indoingso,younotonlyuseexisting(inter)nationalcollaborationsbutyouwillalsoinitiatenewones.Youpublishinpeer-reviewedjournals,makepresentationsatrelevantmeetingsandacquiregrants.Theresearchactivitiesarealignedwiththe’OrofacialHealth’researchprogram.

Wearelookingforaregisteredand’allround’orthodontist,youobtainedaPhDandcanshowexperienceinresearch.Youalsohaveadministrativeandconnectingleadershipexperience.Furthermore,youhavealreadydoneresearchwithinamultidisciplinaryworkingenvironment.Youhaveresearchpublicationsinpeer-reviewedjournals,evidencedbyauthorships.

Inaddition,youpossesstheprofilebelow:

  • Hasprovenexperienceineducation,bothincoordinatinganddevelopingteachingprogramsandteachingdentalstudents(preferablyundergraduateandgraduate).
  • HassuccessfullysupervisedPhDandMScstudents.

    ThedepartmentofDentistryisoneof38medicaldepartmentsoftheRadboudumc.Itconsistsofroughly300employees.Thedepartmentfocusesmainlyontrainingdentalstudents(67studentsperyear,ina6-yearBSc-MSccurriculum).ThepostgraduatespecializationOrthodonticsisalsopositionedwithinthedepartment,whilethepostgraduatespecializationOralandMaxillofacialSurgeryispositionedwithinaseparatedepartment.Second-lineoutpatientorofacialcarefrombothdepartmentsisorganizedintheCentreforOrofacialCare.Thedepartmentcurrentlyhassevenprofessorsandtheyfallundertheheadofthedepartmenta.i.
